I don’t have much money to donate or I would but Two Rivers has a strip of land on Park Road that nobody uses or owns. It is being held by the people who live next to it but it really doesn’t belong to them. I know it is 60feet wide and about a block long that goes right to the lake. I would gladly show it to you and tell you the names of those who are trying to free up this land for the public. I’m sure it would be space for several tiny homes.
I think Two Rivers is too far from Madison. The support networks and ongoing volunteer responsibilities would be too hard for a group of volunteers to manage. Additionally, most people have ties to the community that they would not be willing to give up, or can’t.
Believe me this is A PERFECT Idea and I for one am going to spread the word…Glad to read there are still good Citizens here and about that think of the People. Thank you for the opportunity to respond. Until later, M.
You guys are awesome. My name is Marcel Kuemmet. I do the blog http://wisconsinconfidential.blogspot.com/. I came with Robert Schultze to cover your camp and so he could photograph some of your members for his Portraits of the 99% project (http://www.portraitsofthe99.com/). Of all the Occupy camps I visited, yours seemed to have the most advanced and interesting engineering. This is a perfect example of this again. It shows how the people can overcome and adapt it they are allowed to and not blocked by the monied interests and the sole interest of the 1 % …. protecting corporate profits.
If I get to Madison for a shoot (My job takes me there on occasion) I want to do a story on your efforts and interview some of you on camera.

Hey Madison! You’ve got a sister city project in Austin! Mobile Loaves and Fishes has been feeding the homeless in Austin for many years and started envisioning a sustainable community of little houses during the past 10 years. Great minds think alike! is your project a ecovillage ? Do you employ the homeless to build your projects(with mentoring)?
Ecovillage might be a stretch, but we have gardens and will have a green house, we are looking at solar roof, its a cooperative, people live there for free, they build the homes themselves and help build items from recycled pallets to sell to help raise money.

I am looking for a home for my son who is homeless. I have a 3 room apt with my husband and he is sickly. He has a hospital bed in the front room and I have the bedroom. I am 73 and my husband is 83. My son is a jack of all trades and has helped out with the Bethany Evangelical Free Church on Riverside drive for the last year. He fixes things when they break and the Pastor would be willing to vouch for him. He could build his home but does not have the money or utilities to do so at this time. U GUYS R REALLY AWESOME, AS A SINGLE, OLDER AGED, HOMELESS WOMAN AS MYSELF, WE NEED TO HAVE A COMMUNITY OF TINY HOUSES HERE IN NEW YORK CITY.IF THERE IS ANYTHING, OR ANYONE I CAN CONTACT TO SEE IF WE CAN GET THE BALL ROLLING FOR NYC. I’m working on my own project to help homelessness in Milwaukee. I have already driven around town handing out sandwiches. I would love to bring Tiny Homes to Milwaukee.
